This is the story of a Cornish Barber* who travelled to London and opened up shop next to Jermyn Street’s finest tailors. Who received the royal warrant and trimmed the Shah of Persia’s beard.

At a time when one’s toilette was of primordial concern and to be a gentlemen was an affair of great application.

Victoria was Queen, antiseptic was making its first appearance – and ankles were considered titillating stuff. It was 1870. Penhaligon’s today consults his recipe books (oh we do), and still produces in the UK, in the original bottle design.

kopari beauty

At Kopari, we coconut like we give a damn. Every product starts with 100% pure, organic coconut oil sustainably sourced from small family farms in the Philippines. Our products are made with the purest intentions because we’re unnaturally obsessed with all things au naturel.

Launched in 2008 out of Gwyneth Paltrow’s kitchen as a homespun weekly newsletter, GP created goop to organize her unbiased travel recommendations, health-centric recipes, and shopping discoveries for friends, and also as a place to get her own questions—about health, fitness, and the psyche—answered. It has always been a place for GP to introduce some of the incredible experts who have mentored her throughout her life, and a place where readers can find suggestions about where to shop, eat, and stay from a trusted friend—not from an anonymous, crowd-sourced recommendation engine.

At Goby, we love your mouth and want it to live up to it’s potential — which can only happen when it’s clean and healthy. glam seamless

After wearing extensions for over a decade, she knew that women worldwide were looking for affordable extensions that were high quality. She also learned from her hairstylist that salon professionals did not want to always buy the hair for their clients and take on the risk if they did not show. She started Glam Seamless on a whim with the goal of selling affordable extensions online.

shop cuup

Boobs are complicated.

They are different shapes, sizes, and densities. The bigger they are, the more support they need.

For a long time, the bra industry has tried to make women believe they are “too big” or “too small.” By squeezing 100% of women and their boobs into 15 standard sizes, companies were able to justify a lack of thoughtfulness and quality. It’s easier and cheaper to make a bra without a considered foundation. You’ve probably been told, “Sorry, we don’t make it in that size.” But 66% of women in the U.S. wear a D-cup or larger. Which means ⅔ of the female population has been largely ignored.

At CUUP, we believe the bras you wear should be made to fit you, not the other way around.

dora larsen

Georgia Larsen, creator and founder of Dora Larsen, launched the brand in London in 2016.

Coming from a family with a background in art and design, her interest in aesthetics started young. Two decades later, having worked as a lingerie buyer for a major retailer, Georgia decided to combine her technical expertise with her love of design, and set up her own brand. Tired of buying fashionable bras that felt uncomfortable, she took fit as her starting point and colour as her inspiration. The result is a curated collection of everyday, beautifully designed lingerie

Clare Bare

Clare Bare is a sustainable lingerie brand that started as an idea in the printmaking department at Parsons School of Design 2006. In 2012 we made the move from an apartment in Brooklyn, NY to a design studio in Downtown Los Angeles for “room to grow.” Each piece is handmade using eco-friendly, vintage, and salvaged fabrics and trim by a small team of lingerie loving girls- many of which have gone on to create their own lingerie brands or work for reputable companies in the industry. Starting with a blank canvas, Clare Bare transforms raw materials into unique textiles using organic dyes and printing techniques. Our pieces are designed to accentuate your assets in a natural way, using time-honored techniques yet fashion-forward silhouettes.

Brook there

My vision for the brand is the interplay between confidence and comfort. Comfort is primary- confidence comes from being comfortable in your skin and your clothing- and confidence is the underpinning of beauty in every form. It’s the freedom of feeling good in your skin and never noticing your clothing. Your clothing doesn’t need to reshape you into something you are not. It just needs to provide warmth and support and cover you up when that’s what you would like.

yten Gasson Lingerie

We believe that pajamas should be as soft as your favorite t-shirt and as feminine as your favorite dress. Lake pajamas are practical and comfortable without sacrificing style. The simple silhouettes – you won’t find a button to fasten or string to tie – are made in classic stripes with the occasional print. Inspired by thoughtful design and pared down simplicity, the line captures the perfectly peaceful feeling from a day spent by the water.

joon haircarev

Many of Joon’s ingredients were inspired by founders’, Shiva and Kayvon Tavakoli, Persian roots. The idea behind Joon came from early summers spent eating from their grandmother’s kitchen table, while their grandfather ran a spice trading company. The mixture of smells and flavors inspired bright plant-based infusions in the new line with products featuring saffron, rose, fig, pomegranate and other naturally inspired pairings. What resulted was a combination of kitchen and science, and ancient to cutting edge.

Intelligent Nutrients

Ilia Beauty

We are carving out a new path in beauty, by balancing safety with product performance. We dare to ask how products are made and choose clean, effective ingredients that work. With roots in organic bases, vivid color, and active botanicals, it’s makeup infused with skincare. Being mindful that not every natural ingredient is good for the skin, nor is every synthetic bad. It usually requires a combination of both to achieve a truly exceptional product.

Herbivore Botanicals

We bring you products that are safe, non-toxic, and highly effective. We believe in tangible results you can see and feel, and we believe in the power of nature to bring these results.
Every ingredient that we include in our products is there for a specific therapeutic reason. We do not use fillers of any kind, meaning that almost every ingredient in our products is an “active” ingredient. This results in pure, highly concentrated, and effective formulas that are a rarity in the skincare and cosmetics world today. All of our formulas are original, created and tested by us, on real people — never on animals and always from scratch. All of our products have an emphasis on organic, high quality, and food-grade ingredients.

Knowing that everything we put on our skin quickly absorbs into our bodies, we ethically source the finest raw natural materials the earth has to offer. With ingredients ranging from French pink clay to Brazilian gemstones, we formulate treatments that combine essential vitamins, minerals, and botanicals to restore skin to its optimum health and vitality.

In addition to creating products that give you noticeable results, we also create our products with personal rejuvenation and a little indulgence in mind. We believe that daily bathing and skincare rituals should be enjoyable — a way to carve out some much-needed downtime in your hectic routine. From thoughtfully designed packaging and labels that really allow our ingredients to shine through, to intoxicating scents and luxurious textures, we truly want you to love your skincare and bathing routines.

We use it to eat, kiss, whistle, and howl at the moon. It’s a key part of how we express ourselves and experience the world. But it’s more than just a pretty smile, and oral care plays a huge role in our overall health.

At Goby, we love your mouth and want it to live up to it’s potential — which can only happen when it’s clean and healthy. That’s why Goby makes it easy, giving you the tools you need (exactly when you need them) to get the most from every minute of brushing, and every minute you spend using that big mouth of yours.

EVXO Cosmetics

Ever since Brittni was young she, like many people, struggled with skin problems. Moving into her teens, she continuously found that the very cosmetics she used to cover those issues often exacerbated them, creating a vicious cycle.

This started a passionate and continuous search for what she called “healing cosmetics”. Inspired to go vegan in her early 20’s, what was once a daunting task became near impossible. Frustrated with the lack of options, she started searching for formulators that could match the exacting standards on her wish list.

Vegan, Organic Ingredients, Sulfate and Parabon free, and most of all, a cosmetic product she would reach for every single day. EVXO organic vegan cosmetics are the result of that vision. Healing cosmetics that leave your skin healthier while providing long lasting coverage.

Whether you’re vegan, celiac, or simply looking to make healthier choices for your skin, EVXO was made for you.

In order to be included in our line, each natural makeup product has to check off the following bullet points:

Organic Ingredients
Healthy for your skin
Cruelty Free
Non toxic
Sulfate and Parabon free

Elate Beauty

We believe that individual rituals can create a global impact, and encourage small shifts in habit and mindset that everyone can make.

Introducing a new line of cosmetics, focused on ingredients and centered around performance.
Due to a lack of regulation, the United States Food and Drug Administration permits cosmetic companies to use toxic chemicals known to be harmful in their products. As a result, chemicals linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity, developmental toxicity, immunotoxicity, organ toxicity, neurotoxicity, and many other health concerns are hidden in the cosmetics women are using on their bodies every day. We at Crunchi have set a new standard for cosmetic safety. Crunchi is a revolutionary line of high-performance, safe, and toxin-free cosmetics that are redefining beauty. Thankfully you no longer have to compromise your beauty for your health, or your health for your beauty.

Concrete Minerals

Our founder Emily was dreaming of a line of mineral cosmetics that wasn’t so completely, utterly boring. In 2009 she launched Concrete Minerals. All the sass of your favorite cosmetics brands, with none of the trash ingredients. We’re passionate about creating high-end vegan, cruelty-free products with a unique twist! Our policy isn’t rocket science, we believe in less and more — less ingredients, more pigment! You’ll never find parabens or preservatives in any of our products and we always exclude cheap filler ingredients like talc and bismuth oxychloride! We’re also 100% gluten-free!

Professional beauty is what built us, but it’s all of you who keep us going!

At Bodyography, we create products that bridge the gap between trained and educated professionals and the everyday extraordinary beauty lovers. We achieve this by combining trends and innovation with exceptional quality and performance.

Our products are formulated to perform and designed to make you look and feel your best. We are equally as selective about what goes into our products as what is left out, and we source only the finest naturally-derived, proven-to-work ingredients. At Bodyography, we stand by our ethos, ‘beauty with a conscience’ which is why we are 100% Cruelty-Free and offer a variety of vegan-friendly options with formulas that are always free of Talc, Triclosan, Parabens, Mineral Oil, Sulfates, Lead and Gluten.

We believe in simplifying beauty, embracing color, diving head first into trends and experimenting with new looks. We whole-heartedly embrace everything that makes you bold, brilliant and uniquely you.

In 2003, our scientists began a project that would change the world.

From inside our Berkeley labs, they developed patented technology that allowed us to create an accessible cure for malaria. Today, over 120 million royalty-free treatments have been successfully given thanks to this technology.

Inspired to continue using innovative biotechnology to make a positive impact on the world, we turned to skincare—and the ingredients people put on their faces and bodies every day.

Drawing on our rich history of science and sustainability, we create skincare that is incredibly effective and safe without harming the environment or animals. Because the products you use make a difference for your health and the health of the planet.

For all its progress in the natural space, the beauty industry is still pretty shady. Animal testing and palm oil are still a thing and knowing what’s “clean” versus “natural” is still pretty darn confusing.

Call us crazy but, we don’t think finding good makeup that doesn’t harm humans or the planet should be so complicated.

That’s why we started Axiology; to make the cleanest, most ethical lipstick on the planet.

It ain’t easy! But it’s totally worth the sweat because our tiny tribe is growing – thanks to many of you – and little by little we’re making over the beauty industry.

So thank you for choosing Axiology and thank you for choosing to wear no evil.

Arade Beauty

We source our ingredients from collectives and suppliers who meet our rigorous social, ethical and scientific guidelines. Our delicate process of cold pressing the essential oils ensures that the percentage of their precious and naturally occurring benefits are not lost through chemical extraction or maceration.

Antonym Cosmetics

Your skin deserves natural ingredients, it just shouldn’t be at the expense of achieving the look you love. Until now choosing natural and organic makeup meant tolerating poor performance. Clean makeup ingredients equaled weak pigmentation and color payoff. There was a gap between the function and the formulation.

We created Antonym beauty to bridge that gap; a natural and organic makeup line that offers professional level performance without compromising the integrity of the makeup ingredients. We call it gentle face fashion, a philosophy of kind ingredients with strong performance.

Our philosophy has been embraced by consumers, top makeup artists, celebrities and media, who have turned to Antonym as their go-to high performance clean makeup brand.

“The color lasts hours yet feels moisturizing.”—InStyle

“We were shocked at how pigmented this palette was and how well it blended together.”—Cosmopolitan

“Antonym is one of Elle Magazine Green Stars.”—Elle

VRAM is the Los Angeles jewelry design and production house founded in 1985 and helmed by Vram Minassian. Continuum, the debut collection from his eponymous label takes a sculptural approach, yielding immaculately crafted objects to adorn the human body.

Continuum marks the start of Vram’s second act. After thirty years creating unique pieces for private clients and for other brands, the birth of his first daughter Elsa in 2015 moved him to explore a groundbreaking new aesthetic.

The unexpected sculptural forms incorporate impossibly close pavé settings, swooping seamless surfaces and kinetic elements. In that way, each work is a miniature sculpture intended not only to be worn, but also to be observed, explored, and experienced.

VRAM is the winner of the 2018 Couture Design Award for best debut and a runner up at the 2019 Town & Country Jewelry Awards.

Spineli Kilcolin

Spinelli Kilcollin is a luxury jewelry company based and manufactured in Los Angeles, CA. The company was founded by designer Yves Spinelli, in 2010, and is currently carried in luxury boutiques worldwide including Bergdorf Goodman, Maxfield, Elyse Walker, Hirshleifer’s, Forty Five Ten, Mitchells, Ron Herman Japan, Matches Fashion, and Holt Renfrew.

Designer Background

Yves Spinelli was born in Honolulu, the son of Italian hairstylists. His introduction to the fashion world came through his father Antoine Spinelli, who spent time between Hawaii and New York City working alongside renowned hairstylists Paul Mitchell, Garren Defazio and Roger Thompson in the 70’s and 80’s.

Yves studied jewelry in high school at Punahou. After moving to Los Angeles in 1997, he began his career in luxury fashion working at the iconic boutique Maxfield, moving up to store manager and top salesperson of Maxfield Bleu from 2005 – 2009.

After years of working at Maxfield with some of the best designer collections in the world, Yves was inspired to start designing jewelry.

Birth of the Brand

In a marketplace of ornate and figurative jewelry Yves yearned for something clean and architectural. He created a set of linked rings of different thicknesses which could be worn a number of ways – spread across three fingers, or stacked on one. From this first set he immediately began taking private orders.

Spinelli Kilcollin launched their first group of interconnected Galaxy Rings at Maxfield, and began incorporating diamonds into their collection. In 2012 they made a custom linked ring for Ikram Goldman with 5 carats of diamonds, and immediately garnered national press and the attention of luxury retailers including Barneys.

Spinelli Kilcollin continues to develop their voice by combining a contemporary minimalist aesthetic with intricate craftsmanship and materials, aspiring to become a dominant voice in the luxury market.

Imagine Goods

We are Aiyana and Michelle—two ordinary women seeing extraordinary things. We are Imagine Goods, and we partner with vulnerable and marginalized people around the world to make products that, in many cases, give them the first fair wages they’ve ever received.

You might call us “accidental entrepreneurs”. . . we never really intended to start a business. We had been working as a non-profit in Cambodia since 2006, and slowly came to the realization that this was the most empowering project we saw; by giving people the opportunity to work, we give them hope. By empowering survivors of trafficking with employment, we give them the power to change their own lives.

So we sort of do things a bit differently around here. People matter to us way more than the bottom line, and we try to take a close look at the entire chain of people who are involved in making our products. Are they earning a living wage (enough to meet their basic needs)? Are they being empowered? That’s why we call ourselves a “Sustainable Supply Co.”—because we believe that when we buy a product, the cost of the item should be able to sustain every person connected to it with a living wage.

In order to really get to know the people who make our products, we travel to Cambodia a couple of times a year. While there, we shop in the markets for fabrics (the stall owners know us and love to see us walking up!) and travel to visit the organizations that make our products. These are all workshops run by non-profits that have the express purpose of finding marginalized or vulnerable people—many of whom are survivors of trafficking—training them in a skill, and empowering them with work. This employment is both trafficking prevention as well as survivor care.

We also have partnerships with a couple of other smaller groups; one is with participants of a program in Haiti that is designed to protect, mentor, and employ vulnerable women. Another is with an organization in Pennsylvania that empowers women who are experiencing homelessness with job training and income generation.

We are creating products that care for the human race—giving opportunity for individuals to care for their children, families, and health. . . so that a new generation has a fighting chance to break the cycle of poverty.

ABLE is an ethical fashion brand that employs and empowers women as a solution to end poverty. Reformation’s design mission is to make effortless silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure. The design process starts with us thinking about what we really want to wear right now. We source the most beautiful and sustainable fabrics possible to bring those designs to life quickly.

Most fashion is designed 12-18 months before it’s released, but at Ref a sketch can become a dress in about a month. We’re designing and making what you want to wear right now. We believe the perfect fit is the most important part of our clothes. We spend hours fitting on different bodies and have a meticulous approach to our fits. Our main range is fit on multiple women that are between 5′6 and 5′10. We also launched a petites collection designed for ladies 5′2 and under, an extended sizes collection going up to size 22, as well as a collection specially designed to fit women with a full C-DD cup. These capsules based on body types are just the first steps in our quest to make sure women of many shapes and sizes can wear Ref (and look damn good doing it).

Ply-Knits is a series of gentle knitwear by Carolyn Yim. Carolyn is piqued by how women of great character across history, literature, cinema and art had dressed: women with innate decorum, who are inimitably not only of a room, but also a wardrobe, of their own. And the shared thread of good style comes down to, simply, three and a half things: proportion, astute colors, excellent materials, and lastly, a tiny element of surprise.

Simple on the surface, but quite difficult to master! Ply-Knits hopes to make this process easier by offering the foundational pieces for women to build their wardrobe and their own style upon. Proportions follow the natural high-waist line; colors are unusual, meticulous; materials are sourced from only the best; design is simple but with a hint of a twist.

Having grown up around her grandmother’s knitwear manufacturing business, Carolyn is keen to not produce more waste. Therefore, Ply-Knits knitwear is cleverly remade from deadstock or upcycled yarn, made with the most sustainable methods where possible. Carolyn and her father seek and collect vintage cashmeres, merinos, and silks from top family mills, such as superfine merinos from Botto Giuseppe, and unusual cottons from Lineapille. She knits them at her family’s third-generation ISO-standardized knitwear factory.

Before Ply-Knits, Carolyn studied literature at Columbia University. Her work has been covered in VOGUE, VOGUE Japan, Wallpaper*, Paper Magazine, New York Magazine, AnOther Magazine, Mastermind Magazine, among others.

Pelcor is a sustainable portuguese fashion & lifestyle brand that develops trendy and innovative products inspired by cork, perfect for modern people

Outsider was launched in 2009 with a mission statement that set the scene “Ethical fashion should just look like fashion”.

Whether you call it Eco, Ethical, Sustainable, Green, Slow, Conscious or Responsible – ultimately it’s about creating and designing beautiful garments with a thoughtful approach.

OUTSIDER garments can be worn and loved season after season. Good clothes do not go out of fashion. We are inspired by the items that have been in our wardrobes for years – because true style is timeless, not transient and throwaway. Our versatile day-to-evening pieces are made to the highest quality. They are designed to last and be loved.

We don’t want to preach about ethics to our clients. We simply want to create the solution for them. People want fashionable clothes and they should be able to buy them without worrying about the impact on the world. We are creating an alternative – an ethical and sustainable choice that puts design and quality first.

Outsider styles have found favour with actresses Elizabeth Moss and Emma Thompson, as well as Livia Firth of Eco Age & The Green Carpet Challenge.. We also count numerous creative professional women among our fans and we love to showcase them through our blog.

OUTSIDER is a result of several years of working in the conventional fashion world where the big brands would prioritise making money over all else. Is it possible to run a successful company and still have a heart? Yes, with determination and strong beliefs anything is possible.

It just takes one OUTSIDER to make a difference.

Olivia Von Halle

After studying Fashion and Textile Management at Leeds University, Olivia von Halle worked for the Future Laboratory in London as a trend forecaster for clients including Louis Vuitton, Gucci Group and Lamborghini. In 2008 she moved to Shanghai, China where she continued working as a trend forecaster for various agencies and as a luxury brand consultant.

Coming home from evenings partying with friends, she would long to ditch her sky-high heels and constricting outfits for something glamorous enough to enjoy a gin and tonic in before sliding off to bed. Inspired by the lounging pyjamas worn by Coco Chanel and her contemporaries in the 1920s, she started work with her tailor to design the perfect pair of pyjamas. In 2011 she returned to London to launch the Olivia von Halle brand. Olivia now lives in London with her husband Hugo, sons Hiero and Chaos and their boxer dog Bathtub.

Nomadic Thread Society

Nomadic Thread Society is a dedicated purveyor of exotic-minimal accents for lifestyle and home. Motivated by chronic wanderlust, we source and design traditional textiles and accessories with artisans and small producers around the world. Our collections originate in India, Turkey, Kenya, Tunisia, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, Colombia and onwards. The stories woven into each piece stretch back centuries, while our eye for design and attention to sustainability ensure their use for years to come.

NOMAD by Elroy

Nomad by Elroy is a luxurious line of home and beach essentials for the modern bohemian. The attention is on the textiles…artisan-made, handcrafted and traditional cloth that we journey to source and discover all over the world. The vibrant collection features gorgeous round blankets, textured pillows and effortlessly chic kimono cardigans. Eclectic pieces that tell a story in your home, on the beach, or on a daring adventure.

These rare textiles are harder and harder to find these days, as younger generations prefer a more modern take on production and manufacturing. Without elders teaching their artistry to their younger family members, there is a serious reality that these materials may not exist in the next fifty years. Nomad supports independent craftsmen by bringing recognition to their extraordinary and time-honoured materials. This is the root and the soul of the brand – bringing you eclectic pieces that tell a story. Each fabric is hand-chosen by our designer from select villages and towns spanning the globe, such as Indonesia, Mexico, Ecuador, India and Guatemala, then made by hand in Canada.

Let your home be a showcase of the distant regions you desire to go, or to bring you back to the special places you have already seen. To live and breathe a life full of beauty and awe.

After graduating, she progressed into the jewelry industry designing for Alexis Bittar, Justin Giunta for Subversive Jewelry, and more, and then founded K/LLER in 2010 with Michael Miller.

K/LLER COLLECTION revolves around an interest in natural forms, architecture, alchemy, androgyny, and juxtaposition. The collection—an amalgam of oxidized, rough-hewn metals delicately cast over skeletal organic material—releases an unapologetic, gutsy rebel yell. Eolithic materials—like horn, distressed leather, crystals, porcupine quills, cactus, and feathers—fuse deconstruction and sculpture, decay and renewal, androgyny and femininity, sophistication, and bohemia. Gritty yet sleek, each piece is timeless.

Every piece of K/LLER COLLECTION jewelry is hand assembled and packaged in Brooklyn. All materials are responsibly sourced in the USA and the ankole horn collection is responsibly sourced in Uganda. The majority of the jewelry is cast from recycled metal, and the porcupine quills and horns used are by-products from the farming industry. The globally recognized brand has been sold in Helmut Lang international flagship stores, Barneys New York and is currently carried in more than 50 stores worldwide including ABC Carpet & Home. In October 2014, K/LLER COLLECTION was the grand prize winner of the 2014 CFDA/Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge, and in October 2015, K/LLER COLLECTION was announced as one of the ten finalists for the 2015-2017 CFDA + Lexus Fashion*Initiative. K/LLER COLLECTION was one of the 10 brands in the 2016-2018 CFDA {Fashion Incubator} business development program.

Sustainable fashion that respects

John Patrick Organics

The floaty, placelessness of fast fashion sets the tone for the global garment game. It claims no designer, no source, no history. Items haunt the sales floor with the silent chuckle of a post-rational meme—flickering past consumers, leaving no trace. It all happens so quickly, it may as well have never happened at all.

The haze of profit and speed has created a system preoccupied with the aesthetics of its own disappearance.

In the late Nineties, as the global garment trade gained momentum, John Patrick had to ask: Is sustainability a possibility? Or just a kludge patching the disconnect between eco-anxieties and offshore realities?

In 2004, John Patrick answered that question by launching Organic, his signature fashion label. Organic doesn’t ask either/or. It answers both/and. Beauty and ethics. Green and global. These aren’t binaries of opposition, they’re gradients of possible. Prioritizing organic materials, fair labor practices, and ecological awareness, Organic’s supply chain is a prototype that refines and renders those relationships.

Nose-to-tail, for tomorrow.

Hiut Denim

Cardigan is a small town of 4,000 good people. 400 of them used to make jeans. They made 35,000 pairs a week. For three decades.

Then one day the factory closed. It left town. But all that skill and knowhow remained. Without any way of showing the world what they could do.

That’s why we have started The Hiut Denim Company. To bring manufacturing back home. To use all that skill on our doorstep. And to breathe new life into our town.

As one of the Grand Masters said to me when I was interviewing: “This is what I know how to do. This is what I do best.” I just sat there thinking I have to make this work.

So yes, our town is going to make jeans again.

Here goes.

Gabriela Hearst

Gabriela attended the British School in Montevideo and studied Communications at the O.R.T. University of Uruguay. After more than a decade spent in design in New York, Gabriela honored her family’s heritage through the launch of her eponymous label in Fall 2015, as well as taking over the operations of her father’s ranch in Uruguay. Gabriela wanted to create a brand that reflects a slower pace and process: where things are made with care and detail, where tradition is more important than trend, where there is a purpose to every piece. Gabriela’s commitment is to make a strong and modern collection without compromising her ethics and key values, taking into consideration where materials come from and who is making them: luxury with a conscience or in other words, “honest luxury”. Each garment is an item into which Gabriela can pour her desire—made with impeccable construction and uncompromising, noble materials. Together, they tell a story of the places she loves that made her who she is: Uruguay and New York. Jackets and coats are lined with this special silver fabric that prevents cell phone radiation from reaching women’s reproductive organs. Aloe-treated linen, a much more complete fiber than cotton because it absorbs less water than cotton and at the same time you can eat the flax seed so it has additional nutritional values. Combining the utilitarian and the beautiful, she wanted to design long-lasting garments that hold memories for the woman who wears them. She is a real woman, alluring and powerful, but there is much action in her life and these clothes are her uniform, her armor. She launched in 2016 her Nina Bag which started as a limited edition series bag and now has an extensive waiting list.

Gabriela is the winner of the 2016/17 International Woolmark Prize for Womenswear and the 2018 recipient of the Pratt Institute Fashion Visionary Award. She was nominated in 2017 for the CFDA Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent and in March 2018 received a nomination for the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year. Since 2018 Gabriela Hearst started using Tipa Compostable Bags which offers bio-based alternatives to traditional plastic packaging that are fully compostable within six months.

In November 2018, Gabriela Hearst opened her first flagship store, located on Madison Avenue in the Carlyle House, a New York institution. Following her mission on sustainability, the store was built without synthetics or chemicals, using natural, non-treated reclaimed oak, built-in light occupancy sensors throughout the space to reduce electrical consumption. 90% of the material waste generated during the construction process was recycled.

By April 2019, Gabriela Hearst achieved the goal to be plastic-free for both front and back of house with the use of compostable TIPA packaging and introducing recycled cardboard hangers.

Freedom of Animals

We believe that if people know about the ways that the human race harms the animals that share this planet with us, they’ll stop eating meat, wearing fur and leather, using products tested on animals, and patronizing animal entertainment venues. We have faith that the human race can step out of the food chain and live with the same compassion we profess to extend to our fellow humans.

Further, we believe that showing compassion for animals is an important step toward our evolution as a species that is loving toward its own kind. Studies have repeatedly shown that people who purposely harm animals are more likely to purposely harm other humans. We believe the reverse is true, too — people who wouldn’t harm an animal are less likely to harm another person.

This website is devoted to helping people make better choices — in terms of food, clothing, household products, entertainment, and in caring for their pets and the environment. We welcome your comments, your suggestions for more and better ways to share information, and your contributions in the form of recipes, links to animal-friendly products and organizations, and activist activities our visitors can share.

Flor et. Al

flor et. al is an advanced contemporary eveningwear collection created in New York City by a team of international designers who find inspiration in their personal backgrounds and cultures.

The collection’s name, derived from the words “Flor”, Spanish for flower and “et al”, the abbreviation of the Latin word et alia, which means “and others” is an acknowledgement that our beauty is the consequence to all that flourishes around us. Based on this foundation, flor et.al seeks to give women an unconventional, feminine, fun alternative to traditional eveningwear.

Motivated by a global perception of beauty, flor et. al collaborates with artisans around the world to find the vintage hand painted artwork for their prints and as well as working with small artisans in India to create the hand beaded floral designs to pair back to the collection. flor et. al has partnered with NEST, a non-profit that connects artisans and designers all over the globe.

Cienne was the recipient of the runner-up prize in the 2018 CFDA + Lexus Fashion* Initiative, and was a semi-finalist in the 2018/19 International Woolmark Prize. The brand is worn by influential women and celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Watson, and Naomi Watts.

Chris Gelinas

Chris Gelinas is a New York based womenswear designer.

Gelinas challenges conventional approaches to design through a commitment to rigorous technical development and innovation, working to bridge the gap between pioneering techniques and the classic convention of luxury and femininity. Gelinas has been quickly recognized for his innovative approach and attention to detail, being shortlisted as a finalist in the first LVMH Young Fashion Designers prize and his debut CG collection won the MADE for Peroni Young Designer Award in 2013.

Gelinas graduated with a design degree from Parsons School of Design. He refined his technical skills at some of the industry’s most acclaimed fashion houses including Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga, and as first assistant to Olivier Theyskens at Theyskens’ Theory.

Born in Canada, Gelinas spent much of his childhood abroad where he learned to appreciate the aesthetic richness of diverse cultures and environments. This eye for detail fueled a fascination for clothing and construction, an affinity that matured by studying his grandmother, a seamstress, and his grandfather, a woodworker and upholsterer.

Gelinas is dedicated to a movement that supports local industry, creating and producing much of his collection in New York with the highest level of skill and craftsmanship.
