There are many different reasons for traveling to a certain destination. Of course, the most common one is the fact that we are always hungry for more culture and for exploring new places in a completely new light. However, that is not the only thing we can be hungry for. There are also people who are simply hungry (period) and thus, want to experience a new country in its true and genuine culinary form. Yes, food traveling has become extremely popular nowadays, with more and more foodies opting to visit a certain destination only because of their cuisine. So, take a look at 7 destinations that you can visit if you want to have an amazing and very filling trip:

1. Morocco

One of the most interesting trips that you can opt for, and also one that will help you get to know the culture of the country a little bit better, have an amazing time in some of the most beautiful places of the world, and enjoy the amazing cuisine at the same time is definitely Morocco. This is a destination that is very popular with tourists all around the world but not because of the food and cuisine, which is a shame. If you happen to be there, do not miss out on some of the best places where you can eat local food, as you will love the exotic taste of their spices and their combination with different types of meat. If you want something very authentic, you can hit the small Berber village and find some dadas (traditional female cooks) to prepare lunch.

There is a country in the Balkans that simply has to be visited. Serbia is not only a place that you have to see because of plenty of its unexplored beauties, but it is also a place where you will wish not to get up from the restaurant chair – yes, the food is THAT good. Serbia hasn’t been a popular touristic destination during its turmoil of the ‘90s, but it is slowly becoming one of the best foodie destinations. Their local cuisine is full of flavor and extremely interesting as it represents a fusion of different cuisines all around the world – Hungarian, Turkish, Balkan, Greek. Apart from all of that, it is rather cheap so you will save a lot of money and have the meal of your life.

3. New South Wales, Australia

The Land Down Under is a vast place, and anywhere you go, you will find a great restaurant to have your lunch or dinner at. If you see Sydney, you might as well book in advance a table at one of the many waterfront restaurants. But, New South Wales might be an even better place for a foodie. You can, for example, go to see Ulladulla which is an incredibly cute coastal town and have lunch at one of the best Ulladulla restaurants. This is an area that needs to be talked about as it is really great and it serves amazing food at reasonable prices.

Oh, France. Such an amazing country, with so much history, and most importantly, amazing wine and cheese. New Caledonia is a French territory that is made out of several islands, and it serves as one of the best touristic destinations for foodies. Why? Because you will be killing two birds with one stone by enjoying the tasty French cuisine and experiencing some of the most spectacular beaches that you might find in the Pacific. Also, where there are good food and good beaches, there are good drinks. Sitting on the beach overlooking the ocean and sipping the best cocktails you can find is definitely something you should have on your bucket list.

5. Chile

Chile is slowly becoming a very popular touristic destination, especially for people who like going to exotic and new places. Apart from Patagonia and the fascinating Atacama Desert that is set 7000 above sea level, Chile can also offer amazing wineries. The area that is only a few hours’ drive south of Santiago is filled with wineries and in each and every one of them you will be able to enjoy some great wine and tasty local food. If you’re a real foodie, this is something you shouldn’t miss out on.

6. Iran

Iran might not be a very attractive touristic destination because of its stigma, but it is a great place where you should go if you love good food. Traditional Iranian food relies on the spices, and if you happen to find yourself at an Iranian bazaar, you will see literally mountains of spices. Do not forget to try their kebab and the khoresht (which is their stew). However, if you want to travel here, make sure to know everything in advance as it might not be the safest place to visit.

7. Cyprus

Greek cuisine is great. Turkish cuisine is great. British cuisine is great. But what about all three combined in one? Cyprus is a spectacular island where all of these three cultures came together to create something completely new. This is why you can literally eat anything you want here and you will definitely love it. The first thing you should try is their cheese, the halloumi, but you should also memorize the terms sheftalia, koupepia, and ofto kleftiko.

If you’re a foodie, then finding the next best destination is actually quite easy as there are plenty of choices. But perhaps it is because of that that you might find this challenging? Anyhow, hopefully, we helped you out just a little bit.
