Pregnancy is amazing, pure joy, and a gift no one can fully explain to you until you experience it. First time pregnancy can be very overwhelming though, there’s everything to worry about and be excited about at the same time, and lots of things you need to remember. A few years ago when I was pregnant with my son, I tried to juggle all the advice I was given on top of the things directed by my doctor- all with “pregnancy brain”- which is very real! I was taking my prenatal vitamins, not eating raw meats or soft cheeses, remembering to heat my lunch meat before I ate it, surviving on one caffeinated drink per day, also not attempting exercise I hadn’t tried previously, and then there was no more hot showers or baths, no more ibuprofen if I had a headache, no more sleeping on my back, no more bleach on my scalp…. The list goes on… But when it came to products to use on my body- and in particular my stomach, there wasn’t too much advice handed out except “use cocoa butter”, which now days seems insufficient given how much is available. Whilst I’m currently not pregnant, but contemplating baby #2, I decided to research the best brands and products for pregnancy. Below is a list of top rated belly products to help with elasticity, stretch marks, and all round comfortableness for your skin and its hydration levels. With varying consistencies, you have body butters, creams, oils, and even masks to choose from these days! This information would have helped me a few years ago before my body took on one of its hardest transformations of all time, I hope it can help you now!

  1. Belli Beauty Elasticity Belly Oil

$34.00 – 3.8fl oz

www.nordstrom.com

One of the most indulgent belly oils I’ve had to pleasure of trying! Incredible, luxurious ingredients such as vitamin E, cocoa butter, lavender oil, sweet almond oil, and Gotu Kola extract; are all used specifically to help skin stretch without damage and boost collagen! It’s formulated to condition the skin and provide deep hydration to protect skin during pregnancy growth, and feels amazing! Everything from the Belli line is free of harmful chemicals, paraben preservatives, gluten, phthalates, and artificial dyes and fragrances; making them the perfect choice for any and all products during pregnancy! If I could go back in time, this is the oil I would have purchased for my growing belly!

  1. Hatch Mama Belly Mask

$42.00 – 4 masks

www.hatchcollection.com

This is the first belly mask I have seen for pregnant women, and what a great idea! You apply the sheet mask to your stomach the same way you would apply one to your face, and then once it feels dry you can peel the paper off your belly- but don’t rinse off the product- instead allow the ingredients to continue to absorb into your skin. This all natural hydrating sheet mask was made to help minimize stretch marks during pregnancy and help soften inflamed scar tissue postpartum. Plant based ingredients such as aloe vera (to soothe and reduce inflammation), and propolis (to help rebuild damaged skin cells and fade scars), are used along with sunflower seed oil to create a safe and natural way to help avoid stretch marks!

  1. TriLASTIN Maternity Stretch Mark Prevention Cream

$34.00 – 4oz

www.trilastin.com

A cream dedicated to the prevention of stretch marks- which is just what every woman wants to hear! It contains 15 botanical oils and extracts (like vanilla, mango, orange, and sugar cane), keeps skin hydrated, helps with elasticity and relieves itchiness, and is enriched with fatty acids and antioxidants.

  1. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter

$13.00 – 6.5oz

www.burtsbees.com

For those who like the feel of a thick body butter, this is a great one! It’s 99% natural, formulated without phthalates, parabens, or petrolatum; and has a very affordable price tag too. The richness of this body butter helps to soothe skin during your 9 months of growing, and protects against environmental aging too. The key ingredient is shea butter, combined with coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sunflower seed oil, cocoa seed butter, and soybean oil; lots of nourishment for growing skin, and a subtle scent too!
