Sigrun Bjork Olafsdottir, designer, artist, and an author was born and brought up in Iceland. Unlike many young girls who dreamed of fairy princesses and other sugary confections she was at heart a warrior with a fertile imagination built on stories of Vikings and Nordic Gods, creating a strong, artistic, dynamic woman who has taken that sense of wonder and filled her world with a design aesthetic that would sit as easily with Oden in Valhalla as it does it in urban London. A fashion statement with a historic twist.
The name Sigrun is one that dates back to Viking times, to one of Odin’s Valkyries to be specific and means “Victory Rune” or “She who conquers”.
Starting out in the accessories market with her leather craft work she has since built a strong reputation for her ethically sourced and recycled materials.
As a designer, you can see the strong historical influences in her work, but a far cry from theatrical the garments are practical and unique enough to make a statement.
With her SS18 ready-to-wear collection, Sigrun aims to embrace femininity and masculinity, wanting every person who dares to wear garments from her collection, to feel powerful and brave. Aiming specifically at the office Vikings and Valkyries, Sigrun brings history and fantasy into the modern age.
Viking chic has become something of a daring step and allows the wearer to become something new and makes a statement that cannot be mistaken, Sigrund has created a line of ready to wear clothes that are second to none and eye-catching in a way that is brash and strong.
