Planet Fashion TV held an exhibit that showcased the history of fashion featuring the brand MINXSI. The Art Loves Fashion exhibition was during Art Basel which only made sense because it was indeed the perfect moment for the brand to introduce its new collection. As the show commenced, it began by taking us on a trip back in time in the world of fashion.
The first set of models each wore different pieces from the very early days of fashion. It featured outfits of European fashion, a 20s flapper, a retro military pilot and a geisha. Each outfit had unique pieces that really made us feel nostalgic.
One of the first looks was inspired by “Versace’s palace”, said MINXSI. The leggings were white and featured a light blue ribbon detail up the side of the bottoms that really made the outfit pop. This look also reminded us of the Antoinette era: big white hair, powdered face and accessories. The 20s-flapper had a beautiful mesh wrap with jewel-beaded detailing all over that wrapped around her waist. The military outfit was not typical. The leggings had the traditional camouflage design but with gold embellished sparkles throughout the print. Lastly, the geisha wore a long blue kimono and authentic red silk pants that really achieved the complete look.
The second set revolved around the epic 50s-80s fashion era. The first model wore MINXSI’s 50s deep pink poodle print legging with pearls that ran up the leg throughout the leash of the poodle. The 60s British model Twiggy inspired the next look. The model had a short pixie haircut as Twiggy did with printed leggings and a thick belt that wrapped around a fitted blazer. Following that, came the big curls, colorful statement earrings and 70s floral print leggings. The last model wore an 80s rock n’ roll inspired outfit with elaborate studded metal spikes on leopard print leggings and smokey eyes.
Lastly, the final set featured a present and future look at fashion. Two models displayed post-apocalyptic looks: desert versus ice. One of the models wore a puffer jacket paired with “ice age inspired leggings” and the other gave us a steampunk feel with its desert inspired look. The 80s are definitely making a comeback so it was only right to feature another 80s inspired outfit. The royal blue leggings with leg warmers and a floral printed leotard was one of our favorites. This look was a definite staple of that decade. The final look was a modern take on today’s fashion. The model wore leggings with a gold and black subtle print and a modern poncho wrap.
MINXSI is all about creating pieces of clothing that shape a women’s body in the right places. Each of their unique shapewear leggings is handmade in San Francisco, California.
