Winter Moisturizers: Take your pick!

Well, winter finally decided to visit. Right now, people in North America are making soups and stews as well as breaking out blankets and sweaters to keep warm. However, have you thought about your skincare routine for winter? As seasons change, your skincare routine should too. The colder months require products that will protect, hydrate and keep your skin looking fabulous while fighting the winter elements.

A few things I look for in a winter moisturizer are products that are nourishing and hydrating and as a result, can help protect your skin from cold and wind. Think of it this way; you protect your body from the weather by wearing gloves and coat, why wouldn’t you do the same with your skincare? Below is a list of winter moisturizers as recommended by users like you and me, in a variety of price points:

Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Facial Lotion: This lotion is for normal to combination skin, and it helps improves skin texture and appearance. It also includes aloe and shea butter, and it smells terrific. This product was recommended by a user who indicated that “the product spreads very easily, and then dries pretty quickly which helps if you want to apply makeup after that. It also helps to prime my face for easier makeup application.” (Check your local CVS to purchase).

Bare Minerals Butter Drench: What started out as a splurge purchase is now a product that I genuinely love. It is incredibly thick and creamy and hydrates the driest of skin. As a result, it leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft. It is the perfect product for the winter months, and as a bonus, it smells great too! ($38.00 at

OleHenriksen: Nurture MeTM Moisturizing Creme is a hydrating moisturizer that is formulated with Vitamin C and E and does not contain parabens or phthalates. It works on dry and sensitive skin and helps with redness too. Cara from Pennsylvania says “This moisturizer is perfect for me during the winter because it is rich and nourishing. It not only keeps my skin hydrated, but it also calms down any redness as well. It is formulated for even the most sensitive skin. It also smells like a creamsicle, without being too overpowering. It is a treat for my face. I would not survive the winter without it.” ($40.00,

Drunk Elephant: Don’t let the name fool you. Drunk Elephant is a whipped moisturizer that is amazing for winter skin. It does not contain parabens or sulfates and is suitable for all skin types. Maria from South Carolina loves this product and says “It leaves your skin hydrated without making it oily at all and for my combo skin that is perfect! It gives my skin a natural glow which I love during the winter months when my skin usually looks a little dull.” ($60.00,

Eminence Red Currant Protective Moisturizer: This lightweight moisturizer is full of ingredients that your skin will love. It contains red currant (Vitamin C) and antioxidants (Elderflower) as well as magnolia bark and tea tree oil. It includes an SPF 30, which is also essential during the winter months. Maria S. from NY says “What I like most about it is the consistency. My skin becomes very dry in the winter, but it does a good job of keeping it hydrated. It also does not leave a residue, and it is not too heavy!” (Check for a location near you.)

This season may bring harsh weather conditions, but that does not mean that your skin cannot continue to look fabulous. Treat your skin with something wonderful this winter!
