Think beach town of your dreams, the oyster capital of France, a surfers paradise, typical French markets…have I caught your attention?
Do not confuse Cap Ferret with Cap Ferrat, one is a flamboyant holiday destination known for its famous faces. The other, is one of France’s best kept secrets; an hour drive West from Bordeaux, Cap Ferret is a stunningly secluded, authentically French town on the Atlantic coast.
Cap Ferret’s eastern shore looks out on the Bassin d’Arcachon, this is more of a lake of sorts which is flat most of the time, its southwest corner is open to the sea through a narrow channel, the perfect place for wake boarding or water skiing. On its western side, the cape is exposed to the Atlantic Ocean.
With a beach stretching 60km and sun dunes which appear in low tide almost creating your own little island in the middle of the sea, could you think of a better holiday destination?
From London you can fly to Bordeaux in one hour and forty five minutes; if you are coming from somewhere a little further, then why not make a big trip of it, spend some time in Paris and get the train down to Cap Ferret which only takes about two hours.
Go online and book a holiday there now…you can thank me later.
