The Best Spring Nail Trends of 2017
By Adrianna Maciejczyk
Spring, a time of the year where everything wakes up from the winter dream and start to live a new brighter life. Also we, the fashionable human beings, need to refresh our looks. And what’s the better way to do than with the nails? Let’s go for a ‘spring 2017 nails trends’ journey!
To find the hottest trends of this spring I sneaked into the designers’ and nail trends Instagram queens’ accounts. Before taking you there, I warn you, this year is all about the color and surprise. Yes, even bigger than last year when we were all about the unexpected. Although we’ve seen the furry nails on the runway, you won’t find them here. I find this trend simply horrible, so no fluffy nails.
If I were to describe this year’s nails in one word, I would say ‘effortless’. Finally, we welcome the ideas which we can do at home (some with a little extra help of our BBF). Everything looks quite a piece of cake and luckily this season we opt for minimalism, prints, and geometric forms. Just a quick reminder from the runway and the Instagram life: shape plays a crucial role. Designers are still in love with short, oval nails while Instagram queens prefer these long almond-shaped nails. Choose what’s best for you and take a look at 3 main trends this spring. Take a look at the gallery to get your inspiration!
1. Little Minimalistic Nails:
Coco Chanel once said: “simplicity is a keynote of all true elegance”. This sentence perfectly reflects the spring trend for minimalistic nails. Simple, intriguing and elegant. You just can’t say no to these lovely 3 striped nails from @mpnails or this very modern @monochrome777 ‘s look. Still in need of any encouragement? You can do these nails on your own!
2. Saturday White Nails:
This trend reminds me of my childhood when we were young girls and we wanted to be all grown-up like our moms or sisters. We obviously didn’t have our own nail polishes, but we had liquid papers. It always was a disaster, especially to remove it. Fortunately, nowadays we have white nail polish, which looks way better. Although I wouldn’t opt for completely white design (it still looks tacky for me), I will definitely paint little white stripes or color my cuticles. And again, big welcome for DIY trend.
3. Crazy French Girls
When I was young I also believed that all french women wore french manicures’ all year long. With my first visit to Paris, I realized that “french manicure” is called french simply because french women don’t paint their nails at all. However, if they paint their nails, it’s rather one color only. Luckily for every girl who wants to have a bit of fun, “crazy french manicure is rocking this season” like never before! This spring “french” is all about the color. Rainbow trend, pink and black or the most elegant option I’ve ever seen: beige and gold rose. As I promised, many of them you can do at home. Just watch a tutorial on @hannahroxit ‘s Instagram account and let’s get down to business!
4. Look at my cuticles
The last pick is quite a funny thing, if you realize that whole your life you were trying to clean your cuticles from the nail polish and spring 2017 is going all the other way. However, this trend to impress needs to be neat and clean. The rest of the world will easily see if you planned it or it was just your laziness. This trend really needs someone experienced in nail art to do this one for you. But after all, it’s worth it!
