The premiers just keep getting better and better at the Tribeca Film Festival and last night was the premier of “Elvis & Nixon” starring Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon. This comedic film is based around the story of the famous meeting between Elvis Presley and President Richard Nixon in 1970. Just days before Christmas in 1970, Elvis, the most famous man in America arrives at the most powerful man’s house, Richard Nixon. What makes the film more of a comedy is the fact that Elvis sought to be a Federal Agent at Large for the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
Kevin Spacey give a not so conventional or believable portrayal of Richard Nixon in the looks area, but yet although both Spacey and Shannon were not dead ringers for with character, they although did deliver fantastic understanding of the two.
The film stars an all studded cast with British actor Alex Pettier, who plays Elvis’ friend, Jerry Schilling, who served as a consultant on the film. Johnny Knoxville plays Sonny, another friend of Elvis, and Colin Hanks plays Egil “Bud” Keogh.
