TPM: How would you describe your personal style?

HL: I have a straight-forward personality. I like simple, but detailed and good quality textiles. I pair my outfits with sneakers and stay with black tight pants or blue jeans and pair them with white embroidery blouses. I also design jewelry and accessories… I am crazy about rings, earrings, bracelets, and sunglasses. I love stripes, cotton, and silk.

TPM: What’s your favorite part about being a designer?

HL: Creation and being avant-garde. I can design and make whatever clothes I have in my mind and actually sell them to different customers and get positive feedback with it. I always keep curious with nature and art to get inspired.

TPM: We were blown away with your collection presented at Style Fashion Week Los Angeles, can you share more with us about the collection?

HL: The collection is called “FIND ME”. The inspiration is building blocks, and the HELEN LEE classic image of “bunny” (is added) to the collection, as people who know HELEN LEE, always will find each season will have different bunny image in the design. This time it’s a “bad bunny”, it looks like the bunny is in jail. It is all over on coats, and blouses. The style is quite oversize and flowing, detailed with eyelets, and faux fur. Cashmere, mix wool knitwear shows a soft and warm feeling, light blue custom faux fur with geometric shapes inspired from building blocks. Quilted bomber with 3D “bad bunny” motif and embroidery. Burgundy, midnight blue, light blue, gold and grey are the main tones for this collection. It brings bold and fun looks. With remixed traditional Chinese music, the show is brings LA a fresh and exciting moment.

TPM: What are your future plans with your label?

HL: To keep going with what I’m doing right now and grow the brand and designs. Also, grow the business. The next five years will be mainly focused on international market to ensure the brand development is solid in the Chinese market. We will be opening more shops in China, and collaborate with international brands as well.

TPM: What do you think of eco-fashion?

HL: Always good to do! My philosophy of eco-fashion is to make good design, but useful with less waste.
