A new residential development is set to establish the benchmark for luxury living in Auckland’s inner city. The historic Grand Hotel that famously hosted Queen Elizabeth II in
1953 will transform from its more recent role as a corporate global head office to The
International – a world-class apartment complex.

Located at 9 Princes Street, The International is situated in Auckland’s sundrenched and
leafy art and university district, bordering the grounds of Old Government House and
Albert Park.

Leading architectural firm Jasmax is the brains behind the transformation that will not only restore and respect the historic building’s façade, but also contrast it with a contemporary design-led environment unrivalled in New Zealand apartment living.

Featuring a dramatic white exoskeleton that will wrap the original building in a lattice of
white steel and alloy, The International is set to become one of the city’s landmark
residential addresses.

As well as its commanding exterior, The International will feature a range of generous
apartments with breathtaking views, seamlessly integrated shared spaces and luxurious
amenities including private wine cellar and tasting room, private dining room, outdoor
terrace heated pool, gym, underground car park, private cinema, concierge service, IT
support, and library.

“The International is designed to offer more than just accommodation. The striking exterior, the apartment amenities and the impressive collection of shared social spaces will foster a real sense of identity and community for residents. We hope The International will become both a landmark in the city and a benchmark for city living in New Zealand,” said architect James Whetter of Jasmax.

Internationally renowned interior designer Rufus Knight has teamed up with Jasmax and
brought his signature cool, calm style to the interior spaces throughout the building. Knight has used only the highest-quality materials and fittings including natural stone, Italian-designed kitchens and appliances from Germany.

The International will feature 88 apartments over 17 levels and include a range of freehold one, two, and three bedroom apartments as well as exclusive penthouse suites up to 424sqm.

Well-respected property development company Sanctuary Group is behind The
International. The group’s vision is to bring a new level of residential excellence to
Auckland’s thriving central business district. CBRE will begin selling from the plans in May
2016 with construction set to begin Q4 2016 and owners anticipated to take occupation by Q4 2017/Q1 2018.

Apartments at The International are generously sized and beautifully appointed. Every apartment has an exceptional three metre ceiling height and feature spectacular city, park or sea views. They are contemporary and timeless: it is a luxuriously restrained aesthetic using materials that have been chosen for both their beauty and durability – natural stone, custom timber cabinetry and imported wide-boarded timber flooring.

The building’s location on the Princes Street ridge means breathtaking views in every direction. Jasmax has crafted each individual space around the view and the indoor-outdoor flow, creating apartments that are simply unrivalled in this country. They are open-plan, expansive spaces offering the kind of layout and sophisticated living more usually found in well-designed standalone houses, allowing their owners to capitalise on the benign Auckland climate.

Each apartment is loaded with up-to-the-minute technology and building systems. All apartments are fully air-conditioned and centrally heated, with heat pumps ducted into every living & bedroom. Insulation easily exceeds the highest energy efficiency requirements of the current building code, and all ceiling lighting will be high-efficiency LED. They’re also whisper quiet, thanks to double-glazed acoustic glass with inter-tenancy walls that also exceed the current building code.
