James Theseus Buck and Luke Brook’s Rottingdean Bazaar returns for a second season with Fashion East. Having begun to work together in late 2015, Buck and Brooks moved to the seaside village of Rottingdean in East Sussex, where their work took shape around a perversely original use of found objects. Rottingdean Bazaar is intended to be a showcase, presenting clothes, accessories, homeware, artworks, installations and editorial stories made by the pair. Their first series of clothing features an array of objects sealed onto garments, for example pressed natural flowers, underwear, tights, human hair and balloons. The pair also run the tongue-in-cheek “@badgetaste”: an ongoing Instagram-based badge project, available to purchase online from www.rottingdeanbazaar.com

ART SCHOOL

ART SCHOOL is a creative partnership between Ravensbourne menswear graduate, Eden Loweth and CSM art criticism graduate Tom Barratt. Loweth’s final collection received widespread praise both for its precise execution and sensitive portrayal of the trans body. The founders and their social circle’s non-binary gender identities play a vital role in exploring and celebrating the idiosyncratic nature of queer style. ART SCHOOL evolved as platform for the duo to express their ideas across theory, design and art; via the communicative tool of luxury fashion.

The Fashion East’s Men’s Presentations launched in 2009 following the success of MAN (Fashion East and Topman’s menswear catwalk scheme). Graduates of the presentations include: Craig Green, Martine Rose, Nasir Mazhar, Astrid Andersen, Liam Hodges, Wales Bonner and Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY. Fashion East is a non-profit initiative established in 2000 by Lulu Kennedy and The Old Truman Brewery to nurture, develop and showcase emerging designers.
