The Met Gala: Heavenly Hairstyles and Headpieces

If you are a fashionista, you have heard of the Met Gala. If not, it is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This event marks the opening of the museum’s annual costume exhibit which runs through October. This exhibit draws out celebrities and fashion icons. Some stars may even dress along with the exhibit’s theme, which this year was called Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The 2018 looks were original, yet stunning and that includes the hairstyles and headgear.

Celebrities rocked headpieces including crowns, hoods, veils, headbands and more. The pieces ranged from detailed and straightforward to elaborate and over the top. The hairstyles were glamourous too! High ponytails, chignons, and braids, made a statement all their own. Below are three of my favorite hair and headpiece looks from the event:

Kim Kardashian. What can I say? Everything about her look was drop dead gorgeous. The gold Versace dress with embroidered crosses was perfection, and the high ponytail hairstyle, as well as makeup, were stunning. Hands down, this was my favorite look of the night. Good job Kim!

Blake Lively. Another celebrity who knocked her style out of the park. The fabulous Versace dress included a jeweled corset along with a red and gold embroidered skirt. Her headpiece was intricate, but not over the top and it completed the look. It was beautifully put together, and she looked like an angel.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. From the gorgeous gold dress to the beautiful makeup, this look was heavenly right down to her simple halo. This ensemble screams style and high fashion, and it fit the theme to perfection. Bravo!

As a makeup artist, I look forward to this red carpet event every year to check out the fashion, the makeup and more. Fashion is fun, and this event proves it.
