The lovable Fred Rogers, also known as ‘Mr. Rogers’ will be on the air once more. Documentarian Morgan Neville is making a movie about Fred Rogers’ “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood”.
The film, which is called Won’t You Be My Neighbor? is a tribute to the man who spent the time on his show teaching kids how to love each other and overcome different emotional challenges.
The former ordained Presbyterian minister, Fred Rogers felt his calling was to be something other, which led him to television. Fred Rogers always spoke slowly and quietly, using sentences that had meanings and the stories were always in one tone, non-violent, and delivered lessons to children about the proper way to behave and treat someone.
Those of us who grew up watching ‘Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood’ or who raised children with the re-runs, there is one thing we cannot argue with, and that is the fact that there was something magical about his show and yes, taught us all something about values. He used his platform to show that people of all backgrounds, races, and capabilities were of value.
In today’s state of the world, we need more individuals like Fred Rogers. The film will be released into select theaters on June 8th.
