Oscar-Worthy Makeup Looks

The Oscars are coming, and it’s the most exciting event of awards season! All of us “normal people” get to watch the beautiful, talented actors and actresses donning the most luxurious outfits, and flashing their pearly-white smiles. But of course, the most exciting part for all of us beauty-lovers is getting a look at all of the makeup looks- from all natural to the most dramatic. The makeup of the Oscars always sets the tone for popular trends for the rest of the year, as makeup is so often influenced by celebrities. Here are a few tips for creating your own Oscar-worthy look, whether you’re going to an Oscars viewing party, or just staying home and eating popcorn.

  1. Glowy Skin

Glowing skin has been one of the hottest makeup trends for the past few years. To achieve this glowy look, mix a pump of the Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer with your foundation, and apply. This highlighting concentrate will give the skin a dewy finish all over while smoothing and hydrating the skin at the same time! Or, apply foundation as normal, and dab the Becca Cosmetics Shimmer Skin Pressed Highlighter on your cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and cupid’s bow.

2. Bold Lip

Made famous by Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner, an Oscar’s can never occur without a few bold lips. The key to making your lips stand out is by lining (or overlining)  your lips to accentuate them. Use the Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner, that comes in a variety of shades, for this first step. If you really want to get fancy with it, you can even draw an “x” on the middle of your top lip, and a line down the middle of your bottom lip, to make them look fuller. Fill in your lips with any shade of the Marc Jacobs “Le Marc” Lip Creme.                                             Image Source: Marc Jacobs Beauty

  1.  Smokey Eye

This trend will never go away, and that’s because the smokey eye is so versatile and looks amazing with any outfit, on any skin tone, any time of day. The best palette to use to achieve your Oscars smokey eye is the Charlotte Tilbury “The Rock Chick” Luxury Palette. This palette contains 4 gorgeous shades that are perfect to create a deep, smokey eye, that is sure to make an impression. In addition to these shadows, use the Tarte Cosmetics “Maneater” Liquid Liner to create a nice wing or just some dimension in your lash line.

That’s it! Your Oscar-worthy makeup will be sure to turn heads and create lasting impressions. Remember to set all your makeup with a setting spray! (You wouldn’t want any sliding off mid-interview with Ryan Seacrest!)
