It began with two brothers and grew into an international fashion house. After finding inspiration in Southern California on a cross-country motorcycle trip, Custo and David Dalmau returned to their native Barcelona and began a screen print t-shirt business in 1981. Today, Custo Barcelona is a worldwide luxury brand ranging from dresses to pants and everything in between.
The psychedelic bright prints are the trademark of the line, and the fall winter ’18 NYFW show was no exception. The catwalk was full of ornate outfits with vintage-inspired prints and brocade details. Touches of leather, sequins, and peacock details propelled the show into one of the top of the season. There was a strong 70s disco inspiration on display, but Custo made each piece completely fresh and modern. The runway show was show-stopping outfit after show-stopping outfit.
Custo’s interpretation of fall ’18 maintained a cool girl chic vibe. Each outfit mixed textures and materials to show a patchwork of style. This season’s Custo pieces were utterly unique and seemingly one-of-a-kind. And who wouldn’t want a coat or cocktail dress that tells a story?
As Custo himself said in an interview, “we really love what we do. The enthusiasm is what drives us.” And that is definitely evident in the craftsmanship and style shown for the brand’s fall collection.
