You’ll need a box of kleenex for this, so be prepared to wipe those eyes. As Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays slowly approaches the calendar, we’ll all start thinking about what we’ll do or who we’ll be visiting or the small children will start to compile their Christmas list to Santa Claus. These are the small things we all take for granted on a daily basis, but 9- yr old Jacob Thompson doesn’t have that luxury. You see Jacob has Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma, and this Christmas will be his last.
Per Good Housekeeping, Jacob has been fighting Neuroblastoma, which is cancer that forms in nerve cells of the brain stem. He was diagnosed at age 5 and has been battling ever since. It has spread to his head and hip, and the treatment he has undergone was deemed unsuccessful. The family admitted Jacob to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital on October 11 knowing that he would pass away within a month. Since Jacob is bed-ridden and has limited time left with his family, they are bringing Christmas to him next weekend. What makes this story even more special is that Jacob does not want toys, all he wants are cards, cards from anyone which is meant to “inspire those to reach out” to help bring the Christmas cheer.
We would love TPM readers to send Jacob a Christmas card to let him know, our readers have Christmas cheer, so please, send to:
