V is For?

A great singer once said, “Who runs the world? Girls.”

Designer Namilia is a Berlin-based design house helmed by Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl, and its latest collection is called “My Vagina, My Choice.”

Let that sink in.

Saturday 9/9/2017 she literally stepped her “V” game up. Models hit the runway with vaginas exposed.

We aren’t talking oops, like a little nip slip we’re talking full on vaginas attached to high-end pieces.

According to the show’s invitation, the collection was inspired by the 1748 novel “The Indiscreet Jewels,” written by Denis Diderot. The story portrays Louis XV as the sultan Mangogul who owns a magic ring that makes women’s genitals talk.

Growing up I was taught that being a woman was special and the jewel held between my legs was precious and how great it would be when I shared it with the one I loved.

Namilia has done that. Her jewel was put on display for all to see. Her passion for fashion and being a woman.

Fashion is art. But is this art beauty?

In times where being a woman is trying. The search for equality and the right to choose or being sexually expressive.

Namilia has put it on display for all eyes to see.

My Vagina, My Choice!

How bold can you be? How dare you say that!

That’s what fashion is. Bold designs, daring risk and expressing yourself through your wardrobe. But Namila took it to a whole new level, a questionable level.

Messages can be received several ways and her art form on a runway spoke to many.

Like it or hate it.

Art imitates life so of course, you will have those who will judge and have negative comments.

You will also have those who are inspired by what she accomplished and used fashion as her voice.

I just ask that you take the time and look at the details, materials, craftsmanship, tailoring and overall her aesthetic.

Some of the pieces gave me Victorian vibes mixed with hyper sexuality.

A young lady serving Yoko Ono/Princess Leia vibes graced the runway like a rockstar in a fitted blazer with ruffling that continued in its Cohesiveness to the Vulva themed fashion show.

This was well thought out.

Conversation is being sparked.  Creativity isn’t limited.

The beauty of the world we live in is EXPRESSION! Say it LOUD! EXPRESSION!

Whats your definition of beauty? Whatever it may be its YOURS.

BE BOLD, BE PROGRESSIVE, BE YOU
