DOLORES HAZE

Dolores Haze, created and designed by Samantha Giordano in New York City, is a cool girl’s brand. Inspired by what Giordano identifies as “subversive femininity”, the clothing line aims to capture the juxtaposition between appearing “hyper-feminine, yet possessing an undercurrent of darkness”, giving off a bold, youthful feel. The brand has a myriad of high-fashion looks, some of the most eye catching being the festival-ready “Python Matching Set”, the casual, ready-to-wear “Girl Power T-Shirt”, and the elegant “Dragon Pin-Up Shorts” pictured below. All of these garments are the perfect pieces for chic, empowered women. Giordano elaborates on the motive behind her work, explaining, “confidence is an act of rebellion in a culture that demeans women’s worth by defining femininity by appearances and passivity. If equality is reality, we must challenge the narrative of ascribing gender to traits like assertiveness, power, and success”.

Dolores Haze also makes an extensive effort to ensure that the brand is ethical and sustainable. Giordano outlines these methods, noting Dolores Haze works with factories owned by immigrants which supports the “tradition of immigrant social-mobility through the garment industry”. Additionally, Giordano puts a lot of thought into fabric sourcing, using vintage textiles, African wax textiles, eco textiles (such as Cupro, Tencel, Viscose Fabrics, and Organic Cotton), and Polyurethane: a safer substitute for what is often used for vegan leather (PVD).

Dolores Haze has a commitment to feminism, sustainability, ethical fashion, and just plain old good style. Shop the line and read more about the brand here.
