Dior Homme Paris Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’18
Dior Homme, spring-summer 2018 Paris, FranceSource: If i had to pick one (and it was hard to) i would choose this as my favorite. Van Assche has taken my love of suit and transformed it into something that is young and still functional.
Creative Director Kris Van Assche debuted the spring/summer ’18 collection for Dior Homme during Paris men’s fashion week. “Late Night Summer” felt like a love letter to the youth, saying it’s okay to dress nice and put your spin on it. In black, red, and shades of grey, young models showed off the collection.
“I imagined a young man staying out all night for the first time in August.” Van Assche said, in what he, “considered the look of the future, the look for the young…”
The feel of youth is very much present in the Dior Homme collection. We see t-shirts paired with running shoes, thigh baring shorts and slacks with simple, but striking jackets. More so, it’s in the finer details that truly grab your attention. The sleeves were removed from the jackets and turned into makeshift scarves. As well as belts that wrap around the waist instead of the hips.
The suit jackets were cut horizontally at the waist and sewn onto the bottom portion of collard shirts. Some of the looks paired those same suit/shirt combo’s underneath sleeveless sweaters.
Van Assche shows his love for Paris by making sure it is on t-shirt and suit alike. The word “atelier” can be seen on the suit jackets and scarves, which i feel, is a thank you for the work the studios put in.
