TNT’s “Will” Takes Over Bryant Park

What do you get when you pair the world’s most famous writer with the celebrity-infused talent of modern television? The new highly-anticipated TNT show “Will.”

The punk rock take on Elizabethan England turns up the volume on historical fiction. To kick off the launch of the “Will” world, TNT is hosting a public event at Bryant Park in New York City on Tuesday, June 27 to celebrate the premiere. Shakespearean festivities will take over the lawn near the New York Public Library to transport visitors to 16th century England beginning at 7:30 p.m., followed by a screening of the pilot episode at 8:30 p.m. and an exclusive Q&A with the “Will” cast. This sneak peek into the series arrives two weeks before the official television premiere show on Monday, July 10.

The fictional drama focuses on William Shakespeare’s wild 20s prior to his fame. New talent Laurie Davidson plays the title role, bringing a swarthy ruggedness to the classic playwright. “Will” transcends time and genre  by bringing a punk vibe to Shakespeare’s theatre scene, and focuses on the relationship between Shakespeare and the Burbage family– love interest Alice (Olivia DeJonge) and her talented actor brother Richard (Mattias Inwood). Watch for the fashion, stay for the drama.

“Will” is the product of executive producer and pilot writer Craig Pearce and director and executive producer Golden Globe nominee Shekhar Kapur. The cast is rounded out by veteran actors Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and William Houston.

If you can’t make it to the Bryant Park extravaganza, definitely watch “Will” from your couch on July 10 at 9 p.m. The seductive tone of the show will draw you in, making you never want to leave the corsets and players of England.
