Welcome to the first official Wednesday video for Diary Of An It Girl!
In January I was lucky enough to visit South Africa and go on a Safari. Needless to say it was absolutely fabulous in every way possible and by far the most amazing experience I have ever had. Poaching was always something I was aware of but never really felt compelled to do anything about; that all changed after I experienced my first game drive in the South African savanna. There is something about being in the presence of these wild animals which is so powerful, it completely humbles you and just makes you smile. You cannot help but fall in love with the clumsy baby elephant stumbling across the path meters in front of you, trying his best to handle his own trunk without falling. Or the enormous rhino enjoying his breakfast, chomping away at the grass in satisfaction as you watch on with the sunrise in the background, or the lions spread out on the land relishing the heat from the sun and enjoying a rest before their hunt in the evening; once you see this, you never forget. Poaching was a regular topic of conversation whilst in the savanna, I learnt an awful lot and as you can imagine poaching has now taken on a whole new meaning to me.
Do not worry this video will not show you tragic images of slaughtered animals or animals in pain, expect to see beautiful footage of wild animals which I took whilst there; I want to share with you my experience and how amazing it was.
Poaching is serious and it has to stop before it is too late. Numerous organisations and charities are doing fantastic work and they are making a change, I have put the links to their websites in the video.
Lets bring these horrendously high numbers down together.
Let us know your thoughts on poaching and any ideas you have on how to help!
