The 90’s seems to have been the theme for several of the collections this NYFW season. Although it was a very promising decade which brought us so much news and new fashion styles that are carried out into the current year. The fabulous duo of Nicholas K, wanted to convey the diverse and widespread cultural acceptance of this digital year. Due to the recent events in the world today, they felt it relevant to revisit the promise of the 90’s.
The Palette for the collection was: gold, black, crimson, scarlet, slate, champagne and snake print.
They did just that, they brought the 90’s, back but in a current and the nomadic style Nicholas K is known for. For those of us who clearly remember the 90’s and The Guardian Angels, the community advocacy group, the collection had hints to the iconic group with the military berets styled with a black turtle neck and button shirt style dress.
What stood out was the hoop nose rings and large hoop earrings that were styled with a tunic and head scarf that Steven Tyler of Aerosmith himself would approve of. What we could not get enough of were the oversized parkas, the shift dresses and tie skirts that were styled with gold tall boots.
