Francesca Liberatore’s Autumn/ Winter 2017 collection was a melange of many styles, prints and colors, but the Central Saint Martins graduate describes the collection in only a way a celebrated designer can. Liberatore describes the collection as a trip through two distinctly different Hyde Parks; Hyde Park, London in the 90’s and Hyde Park, New York.
As you browse through the collection, yes, the differences are definitely distinct, from the bold stripes in a magenta and brick red legging and tunic outfit with a nylon/faux fur jacket, paired combat boots, to tall lace up boots with a shirt that read “freedom from fear” paired with black leggings and a camel color shawl cape. These two outfits screamed freedom to do what we choose to do.
Then there were the pieces which are classic, such as champagne and black lace, along with ivory and pewter which are features throughout the collection. Velvet was a big star as it took center stage with embellishments and the signature embroideries as they were used as layering pieces.
