Taoray Wang’s Fall Winter 2017 collection was a crossover classics meets modern. Crossover is the newest collection from Taoray Wang, the namesake brand of designer Wang Tao, which debuted during New York Fashion Week.
Wang Tao designs for the global woman who appreciates refined tailoring, sophisticated silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. She has done it again this season and it was carefully staged with collisions of contrasts that were meticulously blended to form an unexpected, modern harmony.
The collection was inspired by Chinese drama depicting Qing Dynasty characters crossing over from ancient times to the present day world. Rising from an ancient heritage, models were dressed in delicate, feminine lace negligees, then transcending through time and gender, a showcase of men’s suiting arises.
Wang combined opposite elements of classic and avant-garde deconstruction with masculine and feminine style. Wang’s collision created an armored grace mixing delicate lace with bold lines and fabrics, liberating the suit to its original sense of freedom with the Taoray Wang angle of what is powerful, sexy and yet has its own unique edge.
