Henrik Vibskov’s Autumn/Winter ’17 Menswear show at the Vendome veered again toward the designer’s usual cheeky attitude. After a 2016 showing that some saw as overly commercial, he is again representing an “alternate universe,” this time of stunning fabrics in unique colour plays and bold graphics. Playing on the 2017 trends of muted natural tones in everything other than gray, as well as bold stripes and relaxed fit, we also see some interesting inspiration merging various ethnicities, from Japanese to African, that creates a truly worldview collection.
PRACITCAL INTELLIGENT GENIUS FOUNDATION
One of our favourite things about Vibskov is his P:I:G Foundation, established by Vibskov in 2014. It is supported by donations given in exchange for Henrik Vibskov’s personal contribution to educational programs and cultural activities. The Foundation is driven by a desire to give back and nurture creative talent.
“I have been doing a lot of talks around the world, participating in juries at schools and so on, and I decided that I wanted to start donating the fees for those activities to help foster some of the amazing creativity out there.”
(Excerpt from the Henrik Vibskov website:)
The P:I:G Foundation is dedicated to two central aims:
1. THE PIG SESSIONS:
The P:I:G Foundation holds a series of non-profit cultural events, concerts, workshops and talks. In 2014/15 we were kindly supported by Nordea Fonden and Tuborgs Grønne Fond.
2. The P: I: G PRIZE:
The P: I: G Prize is a yearly award given to financially support outstanding creative talent and is given to a person that is recognised as a (P)ractical (I)ntelligent (G)enius.
The aim is to focus on outstanding new talent, selected from across all creative fields, and to help them financially proceed with their work. The applications are considered by an attentive jury of professionals making up the P:I:G Foundation Board.
