…said by the famous Karl Lagerfeld. The well-known designer and creative director for Fendi and Chanel is also a cruelty free advocate. In an interview back in 2010 with Telegraph, he mentioned “It’s the triumph of fake fur”… because fake fur changes so much and became so great now that you can hardly see a difference. For animal lovers like me it’s refreshing to come across news like this that reminds us that you can be fashionable and be mother nature’s best friend at the same time. Even Stella McCartney introduced her “fur free fur” in her autumn/winter collection. Did I mention she is also a vegetarian? The famous designer is an animal rights activist and sells vegan suede, leather and of course faux fur. With McCartney and Lagerfeld merchandise alone in your closet, you are already considered an ecofriendly fashionista. But the list doesn’t stop there. There are so many other vegan friendly clothing and accessories from well-known brands such as Givenchy and Angela Roi. Also at a lower price, but not less of a statement, Love Moschino has the cutest faux leather handbags you’ll want to see.
We have reached a new age for fashion, with a more realistic and brighter attitude as we shop. Two decades ago if someone was caught in fake fur we’d all be screaming: “Ew! What are those?” But, thankfully in 2017 I am proud to say that people are shifting the way they feel about shopping unconsciously. I invite you to be as fashion forward as you are now—or even more than before—while choosing the ecofriendly way.
