How to spend the New Year
During these last few days, we all talked about the good and the bad moments of this year. Our balance sheet of memories was huge, but yet, we still need to remember what we learned and gained, how 2016 enriched us, and what good deeds we managed to score in the “Book of Life”. We also have to think of personal future achievements and what remains to be accomplished in the little time left this year. Being a deeper person, taking life more seriously, pondering deeper understandings of our existence, being more humble and silent, knowing our limits and doing everything well balanced, spending more time with the loved ones and especially on doing inspiring things, are just a few ways of how we should spend the new year.
We are pleased that the old year ends, as we are excited for new beginnings and adventures; but we`re also saddened for the fact that another year has elapsed from life. Similarly, we are glad to welcome the new one, but we are gripped by anxiety of having to face new trials, tribulations and hardships.
In this case, we have to keep a positive mindset and appreciate even the little things that the new year will offer us. Greed is just a selfish and insatiable desire that leads to disappointment. Take everything that comes to you: the good and the bad. Enjoy the good, as you must have earned and deserved it. Embrace the bad, as a lesson that you must`ve yet needed to learn.
For many, New Year `s Eve is just another big party night. For some, it`s an evening of reflection, a time to be grateful and a memory of when the family united. For few, is a night of prayer. One thing I noticed throughout my many New Year`s Eves is that the new year will not go well if you will enter the first day of the year drunk. Perhaps it was a coincidence or simply my own life lesson, but what I gained from it, was that both, the first day and the last day of the year are equally important, such as every day of the year. What you`ll embrace the most on your New Year`s Eve, will be carried into the new year. Bringing these “spirits” with you into the new year, could become you “2017 companions”, and might change the course of your year. The question is, how much do we really care? If we don`t care, then why cry when we face hard times?
Another way to spend the new year is by being aware of our choices and conscious of its repercussions. Realizing that life can leave our bodies anytime and that the best things to leave behind are wisdom and good deeds. If you have such wisdom, then you will look at a rich man without envy, because your richness is much bigger and people will love and remember you for your “wealth”.
How will you spend your New Year`s Eve?
- How about bringing a poor person at your table? Then you have eaten the glory of wisdom.
- How about feeding the homeless? Then you have found compassion within your soul.
- How about spending it with orphan children? Then you have found much love within your spirit.
- How about spending it with the family in a quiet ambient of good memories and laughter?
- How about we spend this evening reflecting and concentrating on letting go of certain bad memories and trying to forgive and love each and everyone in our lives? How about we let love enter our minds, so that we`ll have a peaceful year and won`t burn bridges in 2017 ?
