Being a high profile model, the fashion industry’s little darling, Gigi Hadid is not immune to harassment or attacks. Hadid was grabbed and “lifted” by a man outside the Max Mara show at Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday. There were crowds of fans mobbing their way to get a glimpse of Hadid and outside the show and the crowd grew to an approximate amount of 2,000 people.
Hadid, outside, holding her sister Bella’s hand and who was also accompanied by a bodyguard was then groped by a man who was later identified as Vitalii Sediuk. Sediuk is famously known for committing pranks on celebrities such as Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Brad Pitt at the Hollywood premiere of Maleficent and now adding Hadid to his list. Sediuk, captured on video, can be seen approaching the supermodel from behind, then wrapping both arms around her waist and firmly clasping his hands together. He then lifts her several feet off the ground.
Hadid then can be seen thrusting her elbow in Sediuk’s face and after Sediuk releases her, she then chases him down the street, shouting, “Who the f— are you, you piece of shit?!” and this begs the question, where was her security this whole time?
The Mirror and The Daily Mail have since gone on to criticize and remark that the supermodel reacted unjustly with The Mirror stating: “Frantic Gigi Hadid lashes out with her elbow after being picked up by overzealous fan in Milan,” and The Daily Mail’s header: “Gigi Hadid lashes out at man who tries to pick her up as she leaves Milan.”
After photos and videos of Hadid’s assault were shown over the Internet within hours, with the help of TMZ, Hadid decided to speak up for herself and rightfully so.
Hadid did go on to walk the Fendi and Moschino shows and the momentum is still on as thousands of tweets and Instagram posts are still in support for the model, not only by the fashion industry but her fans as well that have been inspired by her strength.
You go Gigi!
