We’ve seen the many multifarious collections from the duo Nicholas K over the past several seasons as staying true to their style. A style that is a cult following of many consumers and celebrities alike. Last season we saw a rebel from a far away land come alive in front of us and now this season, we see the principals of nomadism look chic and only Nicholas K can do that. The brand that has become known as the “Urban Nomad”, Nicholas K’s collections are influenced by the clothing worn on the everyday street, with a utilitarian vision, luxury but yet with an urban edge.
This season gave us a peek into a modern day Sahara Desert queen. The silhouettes were free flowing dresses made of silk with a sustainable change as well. The duo is now a finalist in the CFDA/Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge—a 17-month program that concludes in 2017. Part of the sustainable collection included “belt bags,” and wide-brimmed hats that are vegetable dyed that are made made Ikat fabrics which gives them a rich but uneven color.
The fabrics were handmade by artisans in India and the organically sculptural jewelry which is a collaboration with Lisa Linhard, was made of reclaimed metals. This was probably one of our favorite collections from Nicholas K, but who am I kidding, there are many more to come that will continue to wow us.
